GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The general admission requirements for the various entry routes are as follows:

Minimum Entry Requirements

  1. First Degree Programmes

Grade 12 or General Certificate of Education(GCE)

To be admitted to any First Degree Programme, candidates must possess five (5) credits in subjects relevant to the programme of study.

Foreign Applicants

Candidates must possess the above qualifications or their equivalent from accredited/recognized institutions.

Mature Students’ Entry

Mature students entry avenues to tertiary education provide opportunities for people who could not do so earlier in their lives to further their education at the tertiary level after some years in the workplace (preferably, the formal workplace). The applicant must:

be at least 25 years old by 1st September of the academic year the applicant wants to enroll

provide introductory letter from employer or show any other proof of employment;

Mature student applicants must pass our University entrance examination and /or interview.

  1. Diploma Programme
  2. GCE holders with Credits in all subjects, including English Language, Mathematics and Science/Social Studies plus 3 Credits in Three subjects relevant to the programme of study.

SCHOOL OF SCIENCE

Department of Computer Science and Informatics

BSc. Computer Science

To be admitted to the Computer Science degree programme,Candidates should have Credits in five (5) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects, including English Language, Mathematics and Science; and three (3) subjects which must include Mathematics and Physics.

Candidates should have Credits in five (5) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects; English Language, Mathematics and Science; and three (3) subjects which must include Mathematics and Physics.

Professional and Post-Diploma Applicants

Candidates in this category must possess;

A Diploma or its equivalence in a relevant programme from a recognized and accredited institution

Must pass an interview

Two years post qualification working experience

Diploma holders or better will join Bachelors Programmes in second year, second semester.

BSc. Information Technology

To be admitted to Information Technology degree programme,Candidates should have Credits in five (5) subjects comprising three

  • core subjects; English Language, Mathematics and Science; and three (3) subjects which must include Mathematics.

Candidates should have Credits in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects; English Language, Mathematics and Science; and three (3) subjects which must include Mathematics.

Professional and Post-Diploma Applicants

Candidates in this category must possess;

A Diploma or its equivalence in a relevant programme from a recognized and accredited institution

Must pass an interview

Two years post qualification working experience

Candidates with relevant Diplomas who obtained credit or better will enter at year 2 semester two.

BSc. Industrial Safety Management

candidates must possess Credits respectively in three (3) core subjects; English Language, Mathematics and Science and two (2) science subjects from Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Agriculture/Forestry.

Candidates in this category must possess;

candidates must possess Credits (A-D) and (A1-C6) respectively in three (3) core subjects; English Language, Core Mathematics and Science and two (2) subjects from Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Biology/Agriculture, Forestry. Home Economics students applying must have either Biology or Chemistry in addition to any two subjects.

Professional and Post-Diploma Applicants

Diploma Natural Resource Management

  • Candidates should have Credits

respectively in five (5) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects; English Language, Mathematics and Science; and any three (3) subjects.

  • Ordinary Level Certificate with Credits (1 – 8) in at least five (5) subjects at G.C.E. ‘O’ Level (or its equivalent including English Language and Modern Mathematics.
  • Certificate in Forestry, Agriculture and any other related programme from a recognized and accredited institution.

SCHOOL OF LAW AND MANAGEMENT SCIENCES

Department of Enterprise and Business Studies

BSc. Resource Enterprise and Entrepreneurship

candidates must possess Credits three (3) Core subjects; English Language, Core Mathematics and Science/Social Studies in addition to any three (2) subjects from the following; Sciences, General Arts, Home Economics, Business, Agriculture and Visual Art.

Professional and Post-Diploma Applicants

Candidates in this category must possess;

A Diploma or its equivalence in a relevant programme from a recognized and accredited institution

Must pass an interview

Two years post qualification working experience

Candidates with relevant Diplomas who obtained credit or better will enter at year 2 semester two.

Diploma Enterprise Management

  • Candidates should have Credits in five (5) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects; English Language, Mathematics and Science/Social Studies; and

any three (3) subjects.

  • Ordinary Level Certificate with Credits (1 – 8) in at least five (5) subjects at G.C.E. ‘O’ Level (or its equivalent including English Language and
  • Certificate in Business Studies/Management awarded by, a recognized and accredited University.

(IV)     five (5) Credits in WAEC General Business Certificate Examination or any other related programme.

BSc. Business Administration

  • Candidates should have Credits in five (5) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects; English Language, Mathematics and Science/Social Studies; and
  • Professional and Post-Diploma Applicants

    Candidates in this category must possess;

    A Diploma or its equivalence in a relevant programme from a recognized and accredited institution

    Must pass an interview

    Two years post qualification working experience

    Candidates with relevant professional or diploma certificates who obtained First Class or Second Class Upper Division will enter at level 300. Those with Second Class Lower Division or Pass will enter at level 200.

    Diploma Business Administration

    • Candidates should have Credits respectively in five (5) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects; English

    Language, Mathematics and Science/Social Studies; and any three (3) subjects.

    • Ordinary Level Certificate with Credits (1 – 8) in at least five (5) subjects at G.C.E. ‘O’ Level or its equivalent which must include English
    • Certificate in Business Administration and  any  other  related

    programme awarded by a recognized and accredited institution.

    (IV)     five (5) Credits in or any other related programme.

    Department of Languages and General Studies

    BSc. in Economics

  • Candidates should have Credits in five (5) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects; English Language, Mathematics and Science/Social Studies; and
  • Professional and Post-Diploma Applicants

    Candidates in this category must possess;

    A Diploma or its equivalence in a relevant programme from a recognized and accredited institution

    Must pass an interview

    Two years post qualification working experience

      Candidates should have Credits respectively in five (5) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects; English Language, Mathematics and Science; and any three (3) subjects in Science, General Agriculture, Business, General Arts, Home Economics and Visual Art.

      BSc. Agriculture

      With options in:

      Candidates should have Credits respectively in five (5) subjects comprising three (3) subjects; English Language, Mathematics and Science; and three (3) in the following:

      Biology, Chemistry and Physics, or Mathematics

      OR

      General Agriculture/ Forestry, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics.

      Candidates in this category must possess;

      A Diploma or its equivalence in a relevant programme from a recognized and accredited institution

      Professional Applicants

      Junior Scientists, Industrialists, Technicians, Staff of Ministry of Food and Agriculture and Agriculture-based NGO’s. Teachers with Certificate ‘A’.

      SCHOOL OF GEOSCIENCES

      BSc. Climate Change and Sustainability Development

      Candidates should have Credits respectively in five (5) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects; English Language, Mathematics and Science/Social Studies; and any three (3) subjects from the following; Chemistry, Physics, Biology/General Agriculture/Forestry, Mathematics, Geography, Economics, History and Government.

      Professional and Post-Diploma Applicants

      Candidates in this category must possess;

      A Professional or its equivalence in a relevant programme from a recognized and accredited institution

      (e.g. Science, Agriculture, Forestry/Natural Resources, Climatology, Meteorology, Geography, Engineering etc)

      Must pass an interview

      Two years post qualification working experience

      Candidates with relevant Diplomas who obtained credit or better will enter at year 2 semester two.

      BSc. Planning and Sustainability

      Candidates should have Credits respectively in five (5) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects; English Language, Mathematics and Science/Social Studies; and any three (3) subjects from the following; Geography, Economics, Mathematics, Government, History, Accounting, Business Management and Costing.

      Professional and Post-Diploma Applicants Candidates in this category must;

      Possess a Professional or its equivalence in a relevant programme from a recognized and accredited institution (e.g. Development Studies, Community Development, Environmental Management, Management Studies, Geography etc)

      Must pass an interview

      Have two years post qualification working experience

      Candidates with relevant Diplomas who obtained credit or better will enter at year 2 semester two.

      Diploma Geo-Information Science

      Candidates should have Credits respectively in six

      • subjects comprising three (3) core subjects; English Language, Mathematics and Science/Social Studies; and any three (3) subjects from the following; Chemistry, Physics, Biology/General Agriculture/Forestry, Mathematics, Geography, Economics, History, Government, ICT and Building Technology.

      Professional Applicants

      Junior Scientists, Industrialists, Technicians, Staff of Ministry of Roads and Transport, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation and Agriculture-based NGO’s. Teachers with Certificate ‘A’ with Science or General Arts background as well as holders of Certificate in Geography and its related fields from recognized and accredited institution.
